Weathering Frankenstorm!

By Meghan Leahy,

October 29, 2012
Here is my advice for now:

1)  If the power is on, let them watch TV.  You will miss it when it is gone.

2)  Don’t eat all the junk at once.  You need to have something to look forward to when you are sick of applesauce.

3)  Parents, I know the joke is to stock up on beer and wine…but don’t start the “drink every time they SURGE on the news” game.  You will be hung over AND trapped with your kids, which is the Worst.  Possible.  Thing.  Ever.

4)  Bust out the toys, crafts and games you never play because they too annoying, complicated, too many parts, etc.  NOW is the time to play those horrible things and make the kids happy.

5)  Keep a positive attitude, especially when the siblings start killing each other.  You can easily get sucked into the drama.  Don’t.  Break up the fights silently and give them jobs.  Worst case scenario?  Put them in a room and go into another part of the house.  Just try to keep your cool.

6)  Don’t go outside.  Don’t let them play outside.  Don’t go for walks.  (This is a DUH, but I have to say it anyway).

7)  Remember, eventually the power will come back on.  Life will return to normal.  Take it day by day, or hour by hour, or minute by minute.  Stay safe.
