STOP THE SULKING.
(I’m looking at you, too, parents!)
After working with hundreds of parents of tweens and young teens, I have seen a pattern emerge. The pendulum tends to swing dramatically from too controlling to throwing up our hands and giving up. In either case, we feel out of control and our tweens need us to stay steady. Not perfect. Steady.
So, I created a course to steady us. (And I mean US, I am in this, too).
This is a course to help you:
You will be able to start applying the things you learn to your parenting life RIGHT AWAY!
“Meghan’s class has some of the most helpful and practical information out there on how to better connect with your child so you both can do better. It’s worth its cost and then some. Truly!”
Aren’t you busy enough? I am not giving you any busy-work. This is a self-paced, eight module course that you can do from anywhere you have an internet connection at any time that works for you.
Each lesson inside the modules only takes 15-20 minutes.
I want this to be totally doable! Within each lesson, there are steps, extra resources, and food for thought!
How much work you want to do is really up to you.
BREAKING NEWS: NO! Parenting tweens and young teens can be, a-hem, just a little bit…FROUGHT sometimes.
Our culture, from the moment you had kids, decided you needed to know what to do, all of the time. First of all, that’s not even possible and second of all, our tweens/young teens do not need for us to know everything.
We don’t do ourselves any favors when we decide we need to have all the answers at all times, and your teens and tweens can spot a phony a mile away.
Parenting is HARD and teens and tweens can be complicated beings.
Getting support doesn’t mean you’re clueless; it means you know how important it is to ask for help when you need it.
It’s self-care, and truly, it’s just how life works.
We can ALL use a little backup now and then.
“Meghan has completely changed the way I parent. Focusing on connecting and building trust while maintaining boundaries is so much more effective and, frankly, fun than yelling all the time!
I’m also so grateful for the way she builds social justice and empathy into her practice and teaching. #gamechanger”
-Margery S., Mother of 3
“Meghan is awesome because she takes all this brain-based parenting stuff that most of us did not grow up with and that is not particularly intuitive and makes it APPROACHABLE and ACHIEVABLE in a way that other teachers or books had not been for me.“
“Meghan’s class has changed my parenting and my relationships (including with myself) for the better!”
-Sara T., Mother of 1
I’m glad you asked! I am a certified parent coach, a parenting columnist for The Washington Post, as well as a certified school counselor and former teacher. I am a certified facilitator for the Power to Parent series from the Neufeld Institute.
Last and never least, I am a mother to three young children myself. I am no stranger to power struggles!
My mission is to help you bring lightness, laughter, and love into your home. To help joyfulness and tranquility find a place at the table. To teach you to forgive yourself when you are human and move forward. To feel in control and optimistic about the future, and to have fun with your family. The theory and practices you will learn have helped me at the different ages and stages of my children, as well as transitions in my own personal life.
I am a heart-centered parent coach in a data-driven world. Because, let’s face it, we have all the data we need at our fingertips, all of the time.
Now we need to use our hearts.
“[This class] makes motherhood feel so much less lonely. It takes a village and this is my village.”
-Jen G., Mother of 2
“This class has changed the ways I approach conflicts with my children. It’s also changed how I view their reactions to life. Both have resulted in more peace, a happier family, and healthier children (and parents).”
“If I could convince every parent to use Meghan Leahy, I would. Her smart, savvy and non-judgmental approach helped us tackle issues — big and small — we’d been struggling with for years.
We’re better parents today thanks to her.”
Any parent, grandparent, nanny, or caregiver who has a neurotypical child between the ages of 9-14.
Absolutely! I strongly recommend that any partner who would like to take the class and hop on the two Zoom group coaching calls should not hesitate. So, think of that… this is like a BOGO for parenting support!
NO! You may read some of the steps and activities in class and think, “Hmmm, I don’t need this right now.” That is totally fine. I only want you to take what you want and practice the techniques you want and need. There is always time and space to try the other practices. You can return to it whenever you feel called to it. Remember, the lessons never close.
No. I don’t believe that you nor your tween/young teen is broken, hence there is no need to fix anyone. I concentrate on how we understand ourselves and how that understanding either encourages or discourages our relationship with our tween. Every human is complicated; this course seeks to address larger theories and issues in parenting. If you believe that you or your tween is depressed, anxious, or suicidal, please reach out to your pediatrician or this hotline. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK). If there are other substance abuse or mental health issues, please contact SAMHSA at 1-800-662-HELP (4357)
No, all purchases are final, as all material is available immediately.
Absolutely. At the end of the day, we are only responsible for our own behavior.
Once you sign up and complete the class, you will be a VIP (a Very Important Parent). You will be able to sign up for private coaching sessions at reduced rates. I want to help you wherever you are in your parenting journey.
I mention some topics as considerations, but this class is not a deep-dive into executive functioning issues, or any other learning or emotional differences.
There will be TWO live Zooms (Currently scheduled for May 18th at 7pm ET and July 13th at 12pm ET) . I will have a specific topic to discuss, as well as take the time to answer as many of your questions as I can get to! Every Zoom will be recorded for you to watch (or rewatch) at your convenience.
The first module opens on April 17th, after that a new module opens up every Monday.
